Analysis: Using ERDAS Imagine on Landsat imagery, NDBI maps were created for building land cover classes. Part A of the analysis used a threshold segmentation based method. Part B used supervised classification with an accompanying accuracy assessment in order to identify pixels of urban and non-urban classes which were then analyzed through post-classification change detection maps.

I then drew upon my background in urban planning to hypothesis explanations for the differing growth paths each city has undergone, and to make suggestions to the cities for ensuring sustainable growth.
